Deep Sunset

Deep Sunset was an art concept site I ran briefly as a testing ground for a ‘non-rectangular’ design as well as some off the wall poetic writing paired with imagery. The various details of the site were designed to abstract the viewer away from their immediate surroundings by simulating a porthole while simultaneously making the viewer conscious of their situation by focusing on objects and scenes typically encountered outside of a building.

1. Month Light

Closeup of month 'light'

Each switch around the circumference of the circle represented a month. The center image and small poem were designed to be update every month, and the relevant months would light up when you hovered over the "month switch".

2. Glass Porthole

Closeup of central Deep Sunset 'porthole'

The central image of Deep Sunset is a porthole designed to isolate and elevate the image. The reader is made conscious of their position behind a computer screen made of glass by a glass effect applied over the image. The concept if of a viewer looking at a glass image of a glass window into another world.
